About

The International Symposium on Advanced Coatings and Applications – ISACApp will be held at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Benguerir, Morocco, is organized to provide an international platform for industrial,

academic, research and student attendees to share their research results and new advances in surface and coatings technologies.

This symposium aims to analyze the state of the art in the fields of surface and coating technologies, for particular application in the transportation industries such as automotive,

aerospace, tooling, tribology and surface protection, or in the energy sector, including solar technologies, energy storage, hydrogen storage and energy efficiency. This event aims to share and stimulate discussions on recent advances in the design and development of coating materials, their processing and their integration into applications, as well as the most promising solutions in coating technologies for applications. industrial.

Areas of interest include the following topics:

Coatings for automotive Industries

The automotive industry is one of the sectors that benefits from the latest technological advances in surface technology. For this reason, surface coatings are involved in many aspects of modern vehicle production, to improve the efficiency and durability of many parts by reducing friction or protection against corrosion and wear. Coatings are also used in other areas of the automotive ecosystem such as automotive parts manufacturing, wiring, stampings, where coatings are often used to protect surfaces or for decorative purposes.

Over the past two decades, the automotive sector in Morocco has achieved sustained levels of growth. Owing to its strategic geographical position, vision and policy, Morocco has established itself as a spearhead of the automotive industry on the continent. Moroccan automotive industry in 2019 includes more than 250 companies, creating more than 148,000 direct jobs over the period 2014-2019, and producing more than 400,000 vehicles with a local integration rate of 60%. However, the goal is to further increase the local integration rate in the sector, which requires the establishment of other technologies, especially surface technologies, as several players in the country’s automotive ecosystem have demonstrated a great need and interest in these technologies.

Coatings for energy applications

To meet the growing needs of the planet, energy must come from inexhaustible and non-polluting source such as sun, water, and wind. For this, several energy production and storage systems have been developed, however, efforts continue to improve their performance and efficiency, and the use of advanced coatings is part of the solutions.

The application of thin films and thick coatings of conventional materials or nanomaterials in the renewable energy sector can take different forms, including solar energy conversion, electrochemical energy storage, energy-saving (i.e., low-emissivity, electrochromic, thermochromic) windows  and the use of photoelectrode coating materials for photoelectrochemical production of hydrogen.

The symposium aims at providing an understanding with regards to the potential applications of various types of coatings covering subjects such as photovoltaics, energy-saving windows, energy storage and hydrogen production.

SVC session

The program for this special session sponsored and organized by SVC includes lectures on the latest industrial scale coating technologies, tutorials on advanced surface technologies and their applications, as well as BtoB meetings.
