The Department of Materials Science, Energy, and nano-Engineering (MSN) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco has been in operation for 4 years and during that time expanded quite substantially. The number of employees is around 42, including 13 professors, 24 guest professors, 6 post-Doctoral fellows, 21 PhD students, and 52 Executive Master students. The department is organized in 4 Scientific Areas: Energy, Polymers and Composite Materials, Surface Science, and Sustainable Materials and Re-cycling
In a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, the 4 Energy Transition divisions work towards developing materials, technologies and systems to innovate in energy harvesting, storage, utilization and efficiency to propel the transition towards a low-carbon future.
In a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, the 4 SFM divisions work towards developing smart solutions in the fields of surface science, metallurgy and polymers to address complex materials and engineering challenges and to accompany Morrocco's industrialization.
In a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, the 2 Circular Materials divisions work towards developing advanced technologies for efficient material recovery, designing eco-friendly products, and fostering a holistic understanding of material life cycles to bring value to raw materials and mine & industrial wastes.

The PhD program is designed to offer students a deep and wide understanding of applied materials science and engineering, under specific research projects related to the general mission and strategy of MSN Department. The main objective of this strategy is to provide to our graduates an accomplished engineering education with specific skills in materials science and engineering in order to meet the needs of OCP, Morocco and Africa; to conduct worldwide competitive research and to provide an integrating and leadership role to the broad multi-disciplinary materials community and thus to have long and fruitful careers as researchers.
